Our story began in 2007, when Angelika brought Red Poll cattle back onto the commons of Cambridge. Since then, we’ve been quietly doing what we love: grazing these local beef cattle on shared land and caring for the landscapes around the city.
In recent years, our focus has increasingly shifted towards the sustainability of our beef. We now keep our cattle on nature reserves and re-naturalisation projects, where they play a crucial role in restoring habitats, supporting biodiversity, and maintaining traditional grassland.
Our aim is simple: to provide the local community with a sustainable beef source that is not only environmentally friendly but also tastes fantastic.

We graze our Red Poll cattle on commons, nature reserves, and re-naturalisation projects where they help manage grassland and support wildlife. By working with natural processes instead of against them, our herd contributes to the production of sustainable beef while playing a part in restoring healthy, resilient landscapes around Cambridge.

Most of our herd consists of the local rare breed Red Poll cattle, recognized for its richly flavoured, naturally dark beef. Our sustainable beef is dry-hung for over 21 days and comes from 100% grass-fed cattle, ensuring exceptional tenderness and depth of flavour.

Our Red Poll cattle graze in and around Cambridge, providing the community with fresh local beef that's sold directly to those who see them on the commons. By keeping things local, we ensure fewer food miles, enhance traceability, and foster a closer connection between the land, farmer, and consumer—all while promoting sustainable beef practices.

Beef Innovator of the Year Silver Award– British Farming Awards (2018) One of five finalists nationwide, recognized for grazing our Red Poll cattle on Cambridge's historic Midsummer Common — integrating sustainable beef practices into the heart of the city while producing premium local beef sold directly to the community.

We're part of a network of over 70 Cambridge-based conservation organisations working together to protect local biodiversity while promoting local beef. Our conservation grazing initiatives, which include raising Red Poll cattle, connect with the wider community of researchers and practitioners in the region, all dedicated to sustainable beef production.

Our Red Poll cattle are certified by the Pasture-Fed Livestock Association, meaning they're raised entirely on grass and pasture. Every certified farm is independently audited against strict standards for animal welfare, natural diet, and pasture management, ensuring the production of local beef that supports healthier soil and wildlife. This sustainable beef results in higher quality, nutrient-rich meat.

As proud members of the Rare Breeds Survival Trust, the UK charity dedicated to protecting native livestock breeds from extinction, we are committed to preserving the heritage of our Red Poll cattle. Our sustainable beef farming practices play a crucial role in ensuring that these traditional breeds not only survive but thrive for generations to come, providing our community with high-quality local beef.

We were featured in a July 2018 New York Times article, "Parks Give Cambridge a Rural Vibe. 'But Cows Do It Better,'" which explored Cambridge's tradition of common grazing and highlighted how our Red Poll cattle play a vital role in sustaining this centuries-old practice while contributing to the local beef community.
